Overview
Project Goal
- To increase access to vision care services for children in North Carolina.
- Durham Tech Community Health Lab will examine the relationship between children’s vision care, and academic, behavioral, and mental health outcomes.
Testimonial
- "Working with the CPRN was an incredibly helpful experience. They were able to take my idea and turn it into actionable steps for us to follow. It's because of the CPRN that we have gotten as far so quickly as we have with our Blindspot of Vision Care project, and I don't know what we would have done without their initial guidance."
CPRN support for this project involved:
Identify Funding
- CPRN consulted with Duke’s Office of Research Initiatives to identify and share funding opportunities with the study team.
Study Design Consultation
- CPRN recommended study design options, as well as guidance on academic partnership and acquiring pilot data.
Seek Potential Collaborators
- CPRN connected the study team with the CTSI Community Engaged Research Initiative (CERI) to utilize its partnership building program—Sparks.
- Sparks sessions helped identify potential collaborators, including Duke researchers and other academic partners, community-based organizations, school-based personnel, and parents.
- These connections through Sparks advanced research planning and laid the groundwork for future project development.
