The Duke Clinical and Translational Science Institute's Clinical Research Professionals (CRP) Roadshow made its latest stop at North Carolina Central University (NCCU) on Sept. 11, introducing students to career opportunities in clinical research. The initiative, launched this spring by the CTSI Workforce Development team, connects students with professionals working in areas such as clinical research coordination, biostatistics, and regulatory affairs.
“Not every bio or math major can or wants to go to medical or graduate school,” said Lance Okeke, MD, MPH, co-lead of CTSI Workforce Development. “We’re trying to communicate and reinforce the message that you can put that degree to work right out of school in a field that can lead to meaningful change in the way that medicine is practiced.”
CTSI thanks NCCU panelists Lance Okeke, Steven Grambow, Ceci Chamarro, Smrithi Divakaran, Morgan Low, and Jennifer Ferrara for sharing their career journeys, as well as NCCU collaborators Tracie Locklear and Antonio T. Baines for helping connect students with the event. The CRP Roadshow's next stop is Virginia State University on Sept. 22.
