Eman joins the Duke CTSI Accelerator team after a six-year tenure as Director of Programs at Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Honor Society, where she provided leadership and direction for the planning, execution, and evaluation of a broad array of programs. Prior to Sigma Xi, Eman was Co-Director of the Freshman Research Initiative (FRI) program at The University of Texas-Austin, where she also served as the Research Educator for the Supramolecular Sensors Stream. In this role, Eman managed all aspects of the FRI program related to student experience and external relations, and developed course-based undergraduate research experiences focused on differential sensing and molecular recognition. Prior to transitioning into higher education administration, Eman completed a postdoc appointment at the Institute for Cellular and Molecular Biology at The University of Texas-Austin, where she worked on the development and characterization of thermostable group II introns encoded reverse transcriptases for biotechnology applications. Eman received a PhD from Texas A&M University. Her dissertation research focused on developing enzymes for bioremediation and detoxification of chemical warfare agents. Eman received an MS in Chemistry from Eastern Illinois University and a BS in Biochemistry & Nutrition from Ain Shams University in Cairo, Egypt.
