Duke CTSA KL2 Scholar Named Blue Devil of the Week

Duke CTSA KL2 Scholar Michael Cary, PhD, was recently featured as Duke University's Blue Devil of the Week. Michael was highlighted for his work as an associate professor with the School of Nursing.

In his classes, Michael focuses on exposing students to careers in aging and gerontological nursing, a career track he believes students may not see as being particularly enriching compared to other specialties such as medical-surgical or critical care.

"In addition to highlighting the important work our nursing students are doing with older adults in the community, I hope this feature will also provide readers some insight into the joys of pursuing an academic career," Michael said. "As an educator and researcher in academia, my responsibilities generally consist of conducting research, writing grants and scholarly papers, teaching courses, mentoring the next generation of nursing students -- never are my days boring or unfulfilled. To me, this truly embodies the essence of meaningful work."
