The Duke Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) announces new faculty leadership for the Primary Care Research Consortium (PCRC), a research network for academic and community practices within Duke Health and surrounding communities.
Ranee Chatterjee, MD, MPH, will serve as PCRC director after eight years as co-director. William S. Yancy Jr., MD, MHS, FTOS, will serve as PCRC co-director. The changes come as outgoing PCRC director and founder Rowena Dolor, MD, MHS, became professor emeritus of medicine in December 2024, a transition marked with a celebration honoring her career-long dedication to primary care research at Duke.
“Dr. Dolor developed, grew, and led the PCRC to become a hugely successful practice-based research network for over 25 years. I am truly grateful to her for bringing me on and teaching me about practice-based research since I started at Duke in 2011,” said Chatterjee, who directs the CTSI Clinical Research Unit and co-directs the Recruitment Innovation Center. “We are happy to welcome Dr. Yancy and his leadership and expertise in general and obesity medicine. We hope to continue PCRC's success, strengthen our collaborations with primary care, and increase our contributions to advancing research and ultimately helping to improve the care of our patients.”
Established in 1997, PCRC includes more than 70 practices in nine counties in North Carolina, representing nearly 200 primary-care clinicians caring for more than 300,000 patients. For nearly three decades, PCRC has conducted over 100 studies, enrolling more than 8,000 patients.
“I am thrilled to join PCRC as co-director and can’t wait to become immersed in several current studies,” said Yancy, medical director for the Duke Lifestyle and Weight Management Center. “I am grateful for the excellent foundation that Dr. Dolor and Dr. Chatterjee have built, and I look forward to helping PCRC’s impact grow. I wish Dr. Dolor the best in her retirement — her legend will endure.”
Investigators interested in exploring collaborations with PCRC are encouraged to contact the Research Advisory Board at the earliest possible time in the research process. An application for PCRC study review is available on the Duke Primary Care Intranet or by emailing DukePCRC@duke.edu.
The Duke PCRC is a registered network in the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) PBRN registry and a member network within the North Carolina Network.
