Cindy Haynes has more than 20 years of experience in public health, community engagement, and working in state government. These experiences have given her the opportunity to serve some of our state's most vulnerable populations in various public health focus areas using theoretical frameworks and evidence-based models to effectively engage communities in improving health outcomes. Cindy has a BS in Health Education from North Carolina Central University and a master’s degree in Administration/Public Administration from Central Michigan University.
Prior to joining the CERI team, Ms. Haynes was a Program Manager within the Duke Population Health Management Office supporting Care Management Strategies to ensure Duke patients received quality care services and resources after being discharged from the hospital. She also worked in the Duke Division of Community Health as the Chronic Pain Coordinator working with DUHS and community stakeholders to address issues around chronic pain self-management and opioid overdose prevention. Her work included coordinating and facilitating provider and community education, addiction treatment resources, diversion control, naloxone policies, harm reduction strategies, and outreach. Cindy is also trained as a DUHS Diversity Educator through the Office of Institutional Equity.
