Doug Wixted (he/him/his) is the interim strategic and operational leader for the CTSI Center for Precision Health (CPH). In this role, he supports the faculty director in CPH’s mission to harness the power of genomic, biomarker and health data to transform patient care and population health.

Doug is the organizational leader for CPH Duke Kannapolis, a team of experienced clinical research professionals in Durham and Kannapolis, where Duke has a full-service research site specializing in community-engaged research.

Doug started his career in the biotech industry, building experience in preclinical research, medical writing, regulatory affairs and clinical development strategy. Following graduate school, he began work in academic research, specifically informatics and biobanking. Doug returned to industry delivering contract research organization services in digital patient engagement. He has been at Duke since 2014 applying his broad experience to community engaged research, population health and genomics, and developing individuals and teams to deliver successful research programs.

Doug earned a Master of Management in Clinical Informatics (MMCI) from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University and a Bachelor in Science in integrated science and technology from James Madison University, where he concentrated in biotechnology with sector work in health systems and telecommunications.
