Dr. Lam provides programmatic, administrative, and operational leadership for the Child Health Core, and coordinates and supports efforts to achieve the goals and aims of the CTSA grant. She serves as a liaison with Duke investigators and staff involved in child health research, as well as other CTSI components and national CTSA consortium workgroups. Dr. Lam is also responsible for facilitating the development and implementation of new proposals and initiatives to support child health clinical and translational research.

Dr. Lam received her BA in psychology from Dartmouth and her PhD in school/child psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Prior to joining the Duke, she served as assistant professor at the University of Rochester Medical Center and as a senior research scientist at RTI and other small contract research organizations.

Dr. Lam led and managed several longitudinal clinical research studies of family-based substance abuse treatments designed to reduce substance abuse, HIV, and co-morbid health conditions in adults and children. In addition to serving on numerous scientific review panels for NIH and CDC grants and other journal publications, and the RTI IRB committee, Dr. Lam has conducted invited presentations and workshops on substance abuse and HIV interventions domestically and internationally to scientific, funding agency, and clinical audiences.
