What are the enablers and barriers to vastly increased private sector investment in climate solutions in the United States? Has the Inflation Reduction Act and other government investments changed the game? What is the return on investment for climate solutions to investors, businesses, and society? Explore these questions and more at "From Billions to Trillions," a one-day summit organized at Duke University by the Nicholas Institute for Energy, Environment & Sustainability, the Fuqua School of Business, Fuqua's Center for Energy, Development and the Global Environment, and Duke Innovation & Entrepreneurship. Public officials, business leaders, and Duke University faculty will share insights on how the influx of federal funding from the Inflation Reduction Act, CHIPS Act, and the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act will impact and stimulate private green investment. John Podesta (Senior Advisor to President Biden for Clean Energy and Innovation Supplementation) will keynote the event. Other expected speakers include Jigar Shah (Director, Loans Program Office, US Department of Energy), Lucian Boldea (President and CEO, Honeywell Industrial Automation), Sarah Cannon (Advisor, Coatue), Mark Florian (Managing Partner and Head, BlackRock Global Infrastructure Funds), Charlie Gailliot (Partner, KKR), Gregg Lowe (CEO, Wolfspeed), Diana Propper de Callejon (Managing Director, Cranemere), and Joshua Rogol (President, Strata Clean Energy), Eric Toone (Managing Partner, Breakthrough Energy Partners). The purpose of this event is to convene stakeholders to create a shared vision for unleashing private capital for climate solutions. This vision will include identifying the most effective pathways to amplify government commitments, create profitable businesses, and meaningfully scale climate mitigation and adaptation. This event is designed to make the most of Duke University's academic assets and convening power and is a powerful expression of the university-wide Duke Climate Commitment.
