Making it Plain, Communicating Health Knowledge to the African American Community

Dr. Jonathan Livingston (NCCU) and Dr. Keisha Bentley-Edwards (Duke) will discuss strategies for improving healthy behaviors and outcomes and fight health-related misinformation aimed at the African American community. Participants will learn how to: 1. Identify effective strategies to disseminate health information and research findings to different audiences. 2. Describe the purpose and effectiveness of ethnodramas for improving health literacy for African Americans. 3. Participants will have the tools to appropriately summarize research findings to broader communities without using a deficit approach.
