Joseph McClernon, PhD, Co-Director of the CTSI’s Integration and Strategic Partnerships Pillar, has been named the Interim Co-Director for the Duke CTSA Team Science Core.
McClernon currently co-directs the CTSA Evaluation and Strategic Planning (ESP) Core with Jessica Sperling, PhD, and he will continue to oversee the work of the ESP Core within the larger context of the Pillar vision and focus.
“I’m very excited about this new role with Team Science,” said McClernon. “New and better healthcare moves from idea to implementation because of the work within interdisciplinary teams, and our aim is to train, educate, and conduct research that improves team effectiveness.”
McClernon will work alongside Faculty Co-Director Jonathan Cummings, PhD; Senior Research Program Leader Kristine Glauber, PhD; Research Scientist Amalia Turner, PhD; and North Carolina Central University Faculty Affiliate Nikia Laurie, PhD.
“Jonathan brings world-class research on team science, and Kristine, Amalia, and Nikia are experts in facilitating team formation and performance,” said McClernon. “We are in the strategic planning process now and will be announcing new programs focused on equitable team science, facilitation training, and institutional collaboration in the next few months.”
