Dr. Swaminathan serves as the faculty director of the Clinical Data Research Networks (CDRN) program at Duke. In this role she helps the Duke research community leverage the CDRN program assets, that range from tools to assist with recruitment of study participants through longitudinal data collection using the PCORnet common data model. Her goal is to increase efficiency in community engaged research at Duke.
Aparna Swaminathan is an assistant professor of medicine, a faculty member of the Duke Clinical Research Institute, and an associate director for iCubed, a center for clinical research innovation. After receiving her undergraduate degree from Princeton University and medical degree from Case Western Reserve University, she completed her internal medicine residency, chief residency, pulmonary/critical care fellowship, and a master in clinical research at Duke University. As a pulmonary and critical care physician who focuses on patients with interstitial lung disease, Dr. Swaminathan has conducted both NIH and industry sponsored clinical studies. She is passionate about improving outcomes in patients with pulmonary fibrosis, and her research focuses on biomarker guided personalized care and innovative approaches to evidence generation.
