Application Requirements

When applying to the Duke Scholars in Molecular Medicine program, please be prepared to:

  • Select your first and second choices from among four tracks 
    • Duke Scholars in Infectious Diseases (DSID)
    • Duke Scholars in Endocrinology, Metabolism, and Cardiovascular Disease (DSEC)
    • Duke Scholars in Neurosciences (DSNS)
    • Duke Scholars in Oncology and Cellular Therapies (DSOC)
  • Specify which year of graduate school or postdoctoral training you are in.
  • For predoctoral students: name the graduate school program from which you are seeking your degree.
  • Include your research mentor’s name and department.
  • Provide a letter of recommendation from your research mentor that includes a statement of support for your participation and why you would benefit from participation. Upload the letter as a PDF.
  • Provide a two-to-three sentence summary of your basic research project and aims.
  • Give the reason for seeking to participate in the DSMM program and what you hope to gain from participation.
  • Upload your curriculum vitae (CV) as a PDF.

Additional Requirements

If accepted into the program, participants will be required to provide complete vaccination records and documentation of recent tuberculosis testing prior to participation in the program. Participation may require completion of missing vaccines, testing for immunity, and/or testing for TB, if needed.


Please Note

Predoctoral students must have successfully completed their preliminary examinations prior to the start of the program in the fall of the application year. If you wish to apply and your examination data will be close to the start of the program, please contact us.

Postdoctoral associates should anticipate being at Duke for the entirety of the program year.
