CHDI-CTSI Child Health Equity Pilot Program
The ISP partnered with the Duke Children’s Health and Discovery Initiative (CHDI), led by Dr. Jillian Hurst, funded through a Translating Duke Health (TDH) award for the CHDI-CTSI Child Health Equity (CHE) Partnership.
The intent of this program was to support research aimed at promoting health equity in the pediatric population, encourage and facilitate genuine partnership and collaboration with organizations within the larger Durham community and surrounding areas, and develop new interventions and strategies to mitigate health disparities and improve child health equity.
Selected teams received $50,000-$300,000 in funding over 24 months (July 1, 2022 -June 30, 2024), which included the community partners. The goal of this program was to intentionally include input from community and academic partners throughout the pilot program process – including developing the call for applications, selection and review process, planning and implementation, and dissemination to key stakeholders, which were all critical to the success of the CHE program and partnerships established. These projects are ongoing, given that all but one have filed for a no cost extension.
Pilot award recipients recently presented their research projects during our Spring Advisory Council meeting. Learn more about our pilot updates during this meeting here.
