Several Duke CTSI experts on best practices for inclusive community-engaged research joined the panel for “Building Inclusion into Research: Language Matters,” a virtual Research Town Hall hosted by the Duke Office of Scientific Integrity.
The June 11 event explored practical strategies for fostering inclusion in research and provided the Duke University community with tools and knowledge necessary to conduct research that reflects and serves the needs of diverse populations. By implementing best practices presented throughout the event, Duke researchers can help ensure their work is accessible, respectful, and inclusive.
The panel included from CTSI:
- Raquel Ruiz, MBA, MA Ed, co-director for the Equity, Learning Health Communities Pillar
- Dane Whicker, PhD, co-director of the Center for Equity in Research
- Denise Snyder, MS, RD, associate dean for clinical research
A recording of the virtual event and slides are now available (a Duke account is required to access the materials). View the slides and watch the recording. Monica Lemmon, MD, associate dean for scientific integrity, moderated the panel discussion.
