Ebony Boulware, Schuyler Jones Earn 2020 DIHI Innovation Awards


Dr. Ebony Boulware, director of the Duke CTSI, and Dr. Schuyler Jones, co-director of the Recruitment Innovation Center, are among principal investigators who received this year's Innovation Awards from the Duke Institute of Health Innovation (DIHI).

DIHI supports high-potential innovation projects in the areas of novel strategies to improve value of care delivery, enhancing provider and staff experience and well-being, enhancing patient engagement and experience, and accelerating population health solutions and strategies. This is the seventh year that DIHI has funded projects through a request for applications across Duke Health.

Eleven projects were selected by a panel of Duke Health leaders from more than 65 applications. Dr. Boulware and her team won for their project, "Using Xealth to Manage Population Health and Engage Patients with Chronic Kidney Disease." Dr. Jones and his team were awarded for the project "Machine Learning for Early Identification and Management of Pulmonary Embolism."

In addition to providing funding to advance the selected projects, DIHI will work with various Duke Health and Duke University partners to provide access to data, analytics, statistical analysis, machine learning and AI resources, while driving project and implementation management.
