Training Resources for Collaboration and Contribution

Are you having to rethink how you conduct and/or contribute to research in this swiftly changing environment? Abundant training resources are available across Duke to facilitate that transition, but they can sometimes be difficult to track down across myriad websites and platforms.

Click on the pertinent category below to view relevant trainings, listed both by topic and by research role.

If you know of other trainings that should be included herewith or would like to suggest a training gap that needs filling, please email Amanda McMillan, senior staff director of the CTSI Workforce Development Core.

If you require more tailored help with a research-specific question, contact My Research Navigators at myresearchnavigators@duke.edu.

Meeting and working remotely

Zoom is now available to all Duke University and Duke Health campus-based faculty, staff, and students as a supplement and additional tool for virtual conferencing. In addition to meetings, Zoom can be used to deliver lectures, hold class discussions, share screens to show slides, and text chat with trainees.

Duke Health workforce members may use the Cisco WebEx conferencing application. All Duke Health and Duke University faculty, staff, and   students may request a WebEx account on the WebEx website to host and run meetings via a computer or mobile device.

Running virtual teams

Microsoft Teams is a team collaboration application that is fully integrated with Microsoft Office 365 and helps your teams work more quickly and efficiently. Microsoft Teams is automatically available to all Duke Office 365 email and calendar via a computer or mobile device. This application works best if only used for internal Duke purposes and should not be used for instant messaging or teleconferencing with users who are not Duke workforce members.

Sharing information

Box is a file sharing and storage service, which provides easy user access and secure collaboration with Duke and non-Duke users from any device. Consider moving some frequently used files to Box instead of using the VPN to access files stored on the Duke network.
